Baptism The Bible clearly teaches that Baptism is a saving work of God and not a confession of faith on our part. Therefore we baptize our children as soon as possible after birth. Most of the baptisms in our congregation are of infants. However, because we live in a part of the country where the teaching is strong to wait with baptism until you make up your mind, we are seeing an increase of adult baptisms. This is wonderful too when souls instructed in God's Word desire the blessings of God's baptism to be their's too. | Comfirmation After thorough instruction in the Word of God and fully believing and trusting that God has graciously worked faith in our hearts, we publicly declare our faith to the community of believers through confirmation. We would never want to let our spiritual life rest upon completing confirmation, but regard it as the beginning of an adult Christian life where we continue to grow in faith and serve our Lord. Confirmation for 8th graders has been held on the third Sunday in May, and after instructions for adults. |
Marriages Marriage comes from God and marriage is blessed by God. The greatest marriage counselor and aid to a happy, blessed, life-long, and loving marriage is the Lord, our cornerstone. Marriage counseling is a prerequisite prior to marriage, and always available after marriage. The strength of a church is its people serving the Lord. To do that a congregation's faith must be strong, marriages must be strong, and family units must be strong. | Funerals When the Lord calls a soul out of the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant we are pleased to rejoice with those who have died in faith. The Christian funeral is not sad but a celebration of the resurrection to eternal life. A Christian funeral service dries tears and points us to heaven. |
The Lord's Supper Four communion services are held each month. Two are distributed with the common cup and two services use the individual cups. Holy Communion is also celebrated on Maundy Thursday and New Year's Eve. |
